Who You Are

The Senior Category Manager, Indirect Services will be responsible for the development, management, and optimization of Sila’s indirect purchasing categories, including IT (including SaaS software and hardware), Travel, Logistics, Waste Management (hazardous and non-hazardous), Analytical Testing, Engineering Services, Marketing, Janitorial, and Food Services, etc. This will include identifying requirements, conducting RFPs/RFQs, selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, performing cost analyses, and managing supplier performance.

Responsibilities and Duties  

  • Work with internal stakeholders and identify requirements and use expertise to develop sourcing strategies for each assigned category
  • Assess potential suppliers and lead all sourcing activities for assigned indirect spend categories
  • Prepare and present thorough cost evaluations for all sourcing projects, and provide award recommendations to cross-functional teams.
  • Manage end-to-end implementation activities for approved initiatives to ensure compliance with Sila processes and requirements.
  • Partner with Legal to create contracts, contract extensions, and amendments to contracts and effectively negotiate terms and reach agreements based on a deep understanding of shared business goals between Sila and the supplier.  Also, review contract renewals in advance of renewal dates and drive cross-functional decision-making on subsequent courses of action.  
  • Own the approved vendor list for indirect spend suppliers, including onboarding of new suppliers and, working with internal teams on any qualification activities as necessary.
  • Establish a dashboard to communicate key metrics related to spend, cost savings, performance (KPI setting and monitoring), compliance and risk monitoring (legal and safety), and dispute resolution, to help drive sourcing excellence in the space.
  • Support Data Systems in executing a multi-year roadmap for Sila’s SaaS direction by researching and assessing the SaaS product landscape to build a strong supplier pool and by cultivating relationships with key suppliers.  
  • Continually assess Sila’s indirect supply base for opportunities to consolidate suppliers and drive improved performance and cost savings.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

  • 10+ years experience in a strategic sourcing or category manager role across various indirect spend categories noted above
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, engineering, or supply chain.  
  • Demonstrated track record in supplier negotiation covering commercial objectives and Terms & Conditions across multiple contract types.   
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to synthesize and report out both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders in terms of capturing requirements and delivering robust solutions

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location

The starting base pay for this role is between $156,000 and $197,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
